On June 1st I proposed using Autonomous Vehicles to deliver your pills just in time to take them, to remind you to take your pills, to manage what
to take when, and to monitor that you actually take them.
On June 7th, I talked about how this could serve as
an unexpected way to reduce suicides because you
never had more than the current dose of pills you can’t be tempted to overdose.
Today the New York Times reported a Sharp
Rise in Women’s Deaths From Overdose of Painkillers.
“… deaths in recent years have been rising far faster among
women, quintupling since 1999.
“More women now die of overdoses from pain pills like OxyContin than
from cervical cancer or homicide. And though more men are dying, women are
catching up, according to the analysis by the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention.”
The CDC report highlights that “nearly 48,000 women died of
prescription painkiller overdoses between 1999 and 2010”, and “for every woman
who dies, 30 go to the Emergency Room for painkiller misuse or abuse.”
So let’s get on with innovative uses of Autonomous Vehicles.
