Recent Progress in Sensors Meets the Needs for Autonomous Vehicles

An important part of this whole topic is the ability of sensors to capture useful data and process for our purposes. There has been a lot of discussion in the literature on Intelligent Cars and Driverless Cars about sensors that are already included in some cars. I’ve already talked about the sensors being used in drones, and how powerful yet inexpensive they already are, and of course they will continue to improve.

Cameras now detect faces

Facebook already identifies people from their photos: facial recognition
And we’re not far from identifying all sorts of objects from a photo, even at night.
So I don’t think we need to worry that sensors will be a stumbling block for Autonomous Vehicles and Autonomous Objects.
